- Kähler, Martin
- (1835–1912)Theologian.Kähler was born in Neuhausen, East Prussia, and was educated at the Universities of Heidelberg, Tübingen and Halle. For most of his career he taught systematic theology at the University of Halle. He was the author of Die Wissenschaft der Christlichen Lehre and a collection of essays Der Sogenannte Historische Jesus und der Geschichtliche Biblische Christus. Today his writings are seen as anticipating the works of weiss, schweitzer and bultmann in that he was sceptical of the nineteenthcentury quest for the historical Jesus.C.E.
